I painted this after I brought home Born This Way and listened to it for the first time. A few weeks before I painted this I had failed my advanced studio class. I had never gotten a grade that bad in an art class in my entire life, and it was the first time I received less than a B in a college class. I was pretty depressed and I thought I wasn’t going to draw or paint ever again. When I was listening to it I just felt this uncontrollable urge to paint something and whipped this out in about an hour. So I kind of took it as a sign that my life as an artist wasn’t over.
